It’s always been a Summer tradition along the Scarborough seafront – or at least open top buses have been! For 2026, East Yorkshire have given their coastal services a spruce-up – out with the maroon, and in with the blue (after all, it is all about the sea).However, Scarborough seafront has never had quite the variety of services than it does this year, with services 2, 13, 99 and 100 all covering the stunning coastline.
Service 99
For many years, East Yorkshire have ran their open top service as the 109, the same as the direct competitors. A few years ago, it was altered to avoid confusion and what better a number for a summer route along the coast than the iconic 99. The 99 runs regularly between North Bay and South Bay along the coast with some spectacular views.
Service 100
New for 2026 is the 100, or Great Scenic Journeys Tour which links the town centre to Alpamare, the Sea Life Centre and the seafront in an hour long tour with live commentary.
New Promotions
To complement the new-look buses, a fresh design has been given to the social media graphics, printed publicity and roadside publicity, all giving a strong cohesive look to the new brands. On top of all of this, the buses themselves now have some rather cheesy straplines aimed at getting all of the attention they truly deserve – which one is your ‘favourite’?
