Egypt to Edinburgh

Spring 2021 saw the introduction of Lothian Buses’ first straight diesel single deck vehicles since 2013. A batch of 30 Volvo B8RLE/MCV Evoras were delivered to Lothian’s Longstone depot for use primarily on cross-city service 30, between Clovenstone and Musselburgh. These 13.2m buses displaced the Volvo 7900Hs from the route to other city services, allowing the Volvo B7RLE/Wright Eclipse Urbans to be retired from frontline duty.

Breaking the mould

These buses spark a new relationship between Lothian Buses and MCV, these being the first vehicles from that manufacturer to see service with the company. Finished to the same high class standard as the rest of the modern Lothian fleet, featuring:

  • High back Lazzerini seats, covered in Lothian’s smart corporate moquette
  • Wood-effect flooring
  • Free WiFi and USB charging
  • Red strip mood lighting and spot lights
  • Contactless payments
  • Visual and audio next stop technology

Externally, the buses are finished to Lothian’s exquisite, if minimal, corporate livery. These buses are a smart and welcome addition to the streets of Scotland’s capital.
